Hmm, i'm bitching a lot lately aren't i. Oh well, a lot of stupid crap has been going on lately.

restrictedsection.org has shut down because they received a 'cease and desist' order from J.K. Rowling's lawyers.

It appears so far that the lawyers are targeting slash writings, and not Harry Potter fanfiction in general. I won't even go into why they think that writings about same sex relationships are so much more horrible than regular smut...but we have to think of the children! That was sarcasm, by the way.

I'm not going to rehash my argument about the parents' responsibility to monitor what their kids read on the internet, you can read that a couple posts back.

Note to J.K. Rowling: Anne Rice tried to shut down fanfiction sites based on her work, too. Know what happened? She lost a shitload of fans. You're heading down the same path.

Ok, i'm going to discuss something very serious today...eating disorders.

I've been very distrubed to find support groups on livejournal where (mostly) girls/women support each other in perpetuating a negative body image and ultimately destroying their body through starving (anorexia) or binging/purging (bulemia). One such community is proana. It is populated by females who hate themselves on levels that don't solely have to do with their bodies. Continue reading...

For my starting post i wanted to give you some links to some stories i have on the web. They're definitely not for everyone so i'll give you any warnings you may need before viewing. These are all Lord of the Rings.

Bilbo's Love Child - Rated R. Humor. Set during Fellowship of the Ring. When Frodo meets with Bilbo in Rivendell, Bilbo reveals a shocking secret to Frodo - his parents aren't who he thinks they are! Slash, odd fetish, language, sexual situations, characters are OOC - or Bilbo really MAY be like this, i don't know. Completed. I'm not happy with the final chapter, i felt pressured to get it finished and i was getting tired of the story so i just put some stuff down to end it. It's definitely not for everyone, but give it a shot.

Gollum Mania! - Rated PG-13. Another humor fic. A little AU piece where Gollum has become Middle Earth's hottest heartthrob. Women desire him. Men want to be him. Read if you dare. No slash, mild sexual themes, some character bashing, undesirable people wearing loincloths. And as it's AU, some people are alive that died in the book. Still in progress. I am really enjoying writing this one, and my reviewers seem to like it as well. Once again though, not for everyone. This story was inspired by me getting tired of seeing Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood all over teen magazines with titles squealing about how sensitive they are, and lucky us girls, he's single! So call it an outlet.

A Ranger's Lessons - NC-17.Pippin catches Merry, Frodo, and Sam doing something naughty together but doesn't quite understand what it all means. Aragorn gives him a lesson in the facts of life. Slash, incest, interspecies, first-time. My first attempt at explicit slash, and probably my last. I like reading slash but i just can NOT write explicit sex without feeling kinda icky. I wrote this in answer to a challenge and i found myself forcing myself to write the sex scenes, thus it took a long time to finish. Overall the story isn't bad though. If you can stomach hardcore slash give it a look.

I have some other things in the works right now, mostly humor. I find it very hard to write serious fiction, it just doesn't work for me. My humor fics are an outlet for bizarre things that get stuck in my head so i don't really expect people to get them. But it's nice when they do. And i do love Lord of the Rings, i just like to do odd things with the characters.

Also, if you're interested in discussing Gollum, grab some friends and go to gollum_mania . It's brand new today and we could use some posters to start a lively discussion!
